On Saturday February 2nd MVFR Member, Kathy Dillon, will share about the tragic murder of her father – a state trooper killed in the line of duty when she was 14 years of age. Kathy will tell her story as she speaks on opposition to the death penalty in the context of respect for the sanctity of life.
The talk is part of a fundraiser dinner for Volusia County Right to Life. Other respect for life issues will be discussed in addition to the death penalty.
MVFR Members and Supporters are diverse and oppose the death penalty for a range of reasons, but we unite in the common belief that the capital punishment is the wrong answer to violence – a broken system that diverts resources and distracts attention from victims’ needs. Together we work to replace the death penalty with alternatives that better serve the needs of victims’ families and the community by addressing the harms caused and focusing more on preventing violent crimes from occurring in the first place.
